About Me
Hi!
I am a Master's in Geography student at San Diego State University and am advised by Dr. Dan Sousa. I currently research wastewater plumes emitted from the Tijuana River Estuary into the coastal ocean using Synthetic Aperture Radar to determine their spatial and temporal extent.
I'm from a small coastal town in Southern California. Growing up close to the beach and surf gave me a great appreciation and curiosity about coastal ecosystems. I interned at the Birch Aquarium in high school and then began interning at an environmental non-profit, Nature Collective, my senior year. I worked on research regarding beach replenishment sedimentation effects on surf. I continued this research in the summer of 2019 and 2021 and became proficient in Python and ArcGIS to study the spatial data that came along with the project. I started college in fall of 2019 in the Honors Program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as an Environmental Protection and Management Major. I have a special interest in estuarine and kelp forest ecosystems. I am currently taking classes through the Semester by the Bay Program in Homer, AK and learning about marine mammal biology. During my time in Alaska, I'm an ecology intern with NOAA and expanding my knowledge and experience with data visualization.
